What a difference a couple of weeks makes! The weather for round 5 was blistering and the fish had one thing on their mind, to spawn and that they did with vengeance as anglers along the length tackled up! At one stage on the far bank two great big double figure carp appeared and furiously went about their business in the shallows as did the small roach and bream too! Craig Ritchie (aka Flagger) from Warrington anglers was quick to comment that each year this happens and every other angler will catch a bream or two. This was especially to be the case in B section where I had drawn yet again!

Big Hit On DreamLakes For Dave Moult
Dave Moult has been a regular at DreamLakes since the venue first opened and he made that experience count on his most recent visit. Fishing DL4 and using just 15kg of Cell boilies over the week, Dave turned that relatively small amount of bait into a catch of exactly 50 fish.

Beautiful Common From The Temple Lake
We are always pleased to get feedback from customers, and to hear about their catches. Adrian Trent is a mail order customer who had some bait from us recently, which he put to very good use!
The end result was this beautiful pale common at 23lb 8oz from a notoriously hard water. Here’s Adrian’s story in his own words…

Fred Moss Commemorative Match 2010

130 Anglers from all around the North West gathered together to pay tribute to popular Liverpool based angler and Ted Carter Southport captain Fred Moss (pictured left) on his beloved Leeds Liverpool canal. The match was superbly organised by Fred’s close friend Ray Pagan. The after match presentation was held in Fred’s local club where he spent many an evening discussing the trials and tribulations of the sport with his other close friends and top anglers Dennis Peterson and Frank Holding.
Fred was held in high regards by anglers who fish on the north-west circuit and indeed all over the country. His passion for the sport was endless and his dedication to encouraging young anglers is something that he put a great deal of time and effort into. Fred had many successes as an angler too, representing teams at the World Club Championships and winning National medals too as well as maintaining a competitive and well run TC Southport team along with help from the shop boss and another of his closest friends Graham Carter.

Middlewich Spring League Round Four
Sometimes match fishing leaves you speechless, this was certainly the case in round four! Ian entered the bag of dreams yet again and his draw did not disappoint (as per usual!). Unbelievably he had drawn me the same peg as the previous two rounds – Peg B12. As mentioned in previous blogs it’s a very good peg with depth across. This is something of a rarity on the Trent and Mersey as its one of the shallowest canals in the country.

Middlewich Spring League Round Three
This week’s match was certainly eventful to say the least, the number of bonus fish caught too was pleasing to see and certainly opened a few eyes! As for our team draw, yet again young Ian drew fairly well, one flier was definitely in the bag, and surprise, surprise it was myself who was to grace the very same peg as last week, although it was not an end as the pegs had been pushed up further, meaning the end was now on the overflow on B13 with me sat on B12. Last week’s blog revealed that luck was definitely on my side. This weeks match certainly went differently.

A Week On Lac Serenity – Part 1
After a long, cold winter it was lovely to be able to set off for France for a week’s fishing. The group of friends I went with had been to the venue (Lac Serenity) before, but this was the first time for me.
The lake, at just over 7 acres, is ideal for a group of 6 anglers like ours. Fish stocks include carp, catfish and the odd grass carp.

We will be holding a Casting Demonstration Day at Barnsfold Reservoir on Sunday 23rd May, from 10am onwards.
This year’s Memorial Match in commemoration of our late colleague Eric Sayers will be held on Barnsfold Reservoir on Sunday 16th May.
