During the final round of the Middlewich league we got together and decided that we were going to enter a team into the Stapeley summer league. This league has run for a few years now and features some of the best canal fishing in the country, something we were all keen to experience.
Round one was to take place on the Shropshire Union Canal at Goldstone and Soudley. We knew little about the canal and its favoured pegs. Ian did the draw and came back with the pegs (and even managed to draw himself a bridge hole – surprise surprise).

The team were really looking forward to this one after a consistent series over the last five matches! Last weeks result really piled the pressure on as we slipped one point behind new leaders Trabucco Blue. Ian completed the draw and came back with much better pegs than those the previous round. Leaving me on peg 4 in A section (on yet another flier!) himself on peg 9 in B section, John on peg 10 in C section and Andy on peg 12 in D section!
