The Octoplus Strongbox includes a number of differences from any other seat box on the market. The most obvious one, aside from the classy grey and black (with a hint of red) colour, is the frame.
The Strongbox boasts a unique profile frame that is lighter, lower and stronger. This allows you to add more drawers above the frame without making the box too tall. One of the biggest criticisms of the other cloned boxes is the heavy toolbox tucked away beneath the frame. We are pleased to say the Strongbox doesnt have one of these.
Hung under this new frame is a custom moulded base unit, which comes complete with adjustable dividers, and is just big enough for reels and catapults etc. The frame houses the four square legs with their revolutionary profile which allows the wing nuts to be tightened fully but still allowing the legs to slide freely in their housing when loosened, no jamming due to leg damage.
This profile also makes the legs very stable. Attached to the end of the legs are the Octoplus legendary swivelling mud feet now in grey. Above the frame is a four drawer unit which comes as standard but additional cross and front drawers are available either when you order the box or at a later stage.
All the drawers are secured with a simple but fantastic lock mechanism. A press on the tab opens the drawer and to lock it firmly in place simply close it! With a winder tray under the excellent and very comfortable moulded seat, with its ergonomic design which includes a pole recess, and water run offs, for when it is wet!
This comfy new seat design alone sets the Strongbox out among its rivals. All these are held together with a revolutionary lock/hinge mechanism, which is simple yet brilliant, with its positive click as it locks and unlocks there is no chance of leaving it open by mistake and therefore losing its contents.
A nice feature with the Strongbox is the retro fit accessories available for it. Which include a drop down cushion pole bar. This is designed to fit directly to the box legs instead of a foot plate because lets face it most fisheries provide excellent platforms to fish from, so a foot plate is unnecessary weight to carry (though a foot plate can be fitted if needed). The carrying strap is secured with fasteners and clips on the side of the box, although the box is obviously very strong, its quite light and its point of balance when carried is excellent.
All the Octoplus range of Multifit accessories will fit the Strongbox so no need to spend a fortune converting all your accessories to this box because all your original stuff will fit! But a nice touch is the new accessories in the new classy grey colour. All in all, the Octoplus Strongbox is a top-quality, well-designed and practical box at a very competitive price.
